Nordstrom is offering a Lancome GWP. You can choose between Coral and Purple(enter one or the other during checkout when you purchase $39.50 in Lancome products).
They also have a Jimmy Choo mini (.15) with a $98 full-size purchase. I'm waiting to get a sample before laying down for that one. (I must admit, the sparkly bottle tempts me greatly- how could something smell badly in a pretty little bottle like that? Especially if it is Jimmy Choo! But I never know what is going to smell just right on me until I try it so I am waiting for a sampler to arrive before I purchase a bottle.
Versace is offering GWPs for a number of their lines: Bright Crystal, Yellow Diamond, Au So Fraiche(men's) and Pour Homme(men's). They include a small coffret(1.7oz) plus shower/shave gel and lotion in (.8oz size). This is the kind of GWP I would go for if I was out of my Bright Crystal but I'm not going to spend $89 to get the little extras.
If you are in need of a Bvlgari Omnia replenishment, take advantage of the Bvlgari Omnia promo at Nordstrom's. Buy an $80 bottle from the Omnia collection and then enter the corresponding code on checkout: amethyste, omniacoral, or crystal. You will receive a 0.5oz bottle that is great for carrying around for toucing up your scent. I'm a Bvlgari addict, so I figured I might as well. If you are new to the brand, you might find it worth checking out. I adore most of the Bvlgari line.
Macy's has a springtime themed Clinique GWP, unfortunately I can't grab the pic, but check it out by clicking the link above. They have the cutest cosmetic bag with flowers and ladybugs on it in bright colors. You can choose between Pinks or Violets.
Sephora, being my guily pleasure and all, is where I like to indulge my perfume hoarding habit: check out their Fragrance Specials . One of my faves is the rollerball sampler kit($18). You get several testers and a card that you can take back to Sephora to trade in for a rollerball of the tester scent you liked the most. They do have larger kits(for more $$) where you can trade your card for a 1.7oz bottle or in some cases and even larger full-sized bottle. My daughters got these for Christmas and had the time of their lives picking out the firs signature scents! Aww!
Remember, too, you always get three free samples when you check out at Sephora. I love to check out new fragrances and recent samples have included Bond #9, Juicy Couture La La(yum!), and SeeBy Chloe(much better than the original Chloe imho).
Fragrance of the day? I'm wearing True Religion for Women (and yes, I was entirely seduced by the sparkly bottle with the rhinestone on the front but it turns out it is a very nice scent that doesn't have whatever they put in certain fragrances that give me killer headaches). Go see the fabulous Fragrantica site to get a good review. It is citrus-ey, woody and for me I def. get whiffs of the amber and hinoki wood in the dry down. This is one I get compliments on and, for me, it has great lasting power without massive sillage(I don't leave a trail of unconscious people behind me as I walk through a room. Which reminds me, I was at the Opera once and our season tickets were next to the nicest of couples, EXCEPT that the woman apparently bathed in what smelled like cheap drugstore perfume that only made me WISH I was unconscious. Please wear perfume responsibly, folks.)
Not to offend any perfume officianados out there but perfume is a very personal thing because we all have our own body chemistry- so while some can rave on about top notes, base notes, etc., to me, it is a little like wine tasting. (I worked in the wine business for many years). There is this sort of pretentious habit of wine tasters that plays out like: "Oh, dahhhling, can you taste the smoke and blackberries in this one?" "Oh, it's delightful, especially with that bit of pepper..." WTF? I like perfume that smells good on me. Just like I enjoy an occasional glass of wine that tastes good to me.
Oh, I also like perfume if it makes me sparkly, yeah. Like Marc Jacobs Daisy- they make a perfume roll-on with sparkles in it. Roll it on and you smell like a Marc Jacobs daisy but you will be fantastically sparkly whereever you use it. I wish they made all perfumes like that. Of course, I also wish I lived in a tree house, that I was a fighter jet pilot and that I have raven tresses that fall in thick waves to my rear end. So it goes. Now eat your vegetables if you want dessert. (Sorry, no pic of the limited edition sparkly roll-on Daisy but I do think this refillable Eu So Fresh Daisy found at Nieman Marcus is quite darling.)
Back to body chemistry: I've been floored by someone walking by wear D&G's Light Blue- as in wanted to knock them down, lick their face and drool on them. When I tried it(the perfume, not licking people's faces), people asked me if I had just gotten out of the hospital. Yes, it smells like antiseptic on me. On the other hand, I absolutely love D&Gs The One and Rose the One.
Well, at least my ten year old daughter says it doesn't smell like *ss on me.
This set is availabe at Saks. Update: It WAS- now you can find the whole set for a reasonable price here on Amazon.com. I have the bronzer, as well, and it is excellent. Not a finer bronzer could there be. Wel, there could be but I aven't found one for moi.
BTW, if you are interested in perfume and want to see what certain scents you might like, check out Fragrantica. They give scent profiles, users vote on Love, Like, Okay- etc. for a scent and then it shows you a list of perfumes liked by others who also like the one in which you are interested.
