Going on now through May 5th(and while supplies last, of course) Neiman's is holding their scent event. I believe because Mother's Day is upon us!
They also have tons of beauty offers from some of our faves:
Laura Mercier
Lancome
Yves Saint Laurent
Marc Jacobs
Juicy
... etc.
I'm not going to post individually on all of them- some have already been featured or running for a bit. As always, with Neiman the 'purchase' part of the GWP promos is higher than some oter department stores but I can say I've never had a problem with them with returns or online orders being screwed up. Anyhoo, they are offering a cute tote with samples- a very nice Spring-is-Here promo!

Lancome.com has a great GWP right now!
Can't decide what to buy?
I just recently got the Rouge in Love Lipstick in Jolie Rosalie and LOVE it!
They also have their Summer 2013 collection out and don't you know it... blue eyeshadow isn't just back, it's BACK! (Ask me in a few years how I feel about the cyclical nature of fashion. Right now I will say that some decades should have been left to rest in piece. I'm just not down with the teal and fuschia.)
I haven't been a big fan of Lancome's liquid foundation or their tinted moisturizer but I do love their dual finish powder foundation and I love their Effacernes waterproof concealer when I need it.
AND because I love all things sparkly, I do love their color design eyeshadow which is always luminous if not down right glittery. :)

Clinique has an oh-so-pretty GWP being offered by Saks:
Receive an 8-piece gift set* with any $45 Clinique purchase. Includes a cosmetics bag set designed by Michelle Smith of Milly as well as samples of Dramatically Different Moisturizer Lotion, Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lid, Lashes & Lips, Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour in Super Strawberry, Eyes 1,2,3 Colour Compact in Violets, All About Eyes, Quickliner For Eyes Intense in Intense Midnight and Lash Doubling Mascara. Use codeCLINIQ6 at checkout. (Love the Milly bag!!)
And since I've been babbling about Bond No. 9... don't listen to my crazy ramblings, get this set of 'bon bons' which are basically testers wrapped in pretty cellophane. The nice thing about this is 1. you didn't spend $250 for somethng you later figure out you really don't like all that much, 2. variety is the spice of life! try a new scent every day! and 3. You can get several uses from each bon bon! It's like Bond No. 9 Bon Bons from heaven!
Warning: these are not edible.
The girl that sat in front of me in first grade (who always had her hair curled in perfect ringlets while my mom was lucky to brush my hair, let alone get me to wear a headband or something) ate paste and that is not edible either so I guess 'not edible' is a relative fact. I will say that even though I phoo-phooed Bond No. 9 for ages, now some of their scents are my favorite and so good I could eat them. Yum!

Hello lovers of all things fragrant and glittery... I'm going to be doing a comparison between dry shampoos. I've tried a number of them but I figure its time to narrow down what works and what doesn't.
If you are unfamiliar, dry shampoo is something for lazy, mentally ill um, I mean BUSY women like me who do not like to do the 'do every day. It is basically a way to spread out the number of times you need to wash your hair. Washing hair can really be hard on it- especially for those of us trying to make a last hurrah at growing it out. If I can find a product that gives me volume and keeps my hair from looking greasy and unwashed, I am SO ON IT!
I've had some decent luck but inconsistently so with Oscar Blandi and a couple other brands. I'm going to the hair supply in the next few days and going to ask for recommendations and hopefully get several brands to try. Might even do the whole picture comparison thing, egads!
If anyone has any great suggestions, let me know!
BTW, just because I don't wash my hair every day doesn't mean I don't shower AND if I do get all sweaty and gross, that's kind of a deal breaker. If I do wash my hair every day I get dry, split ends, a greasy scalp and usually a nice case of excema even though I use sulphate-free organics whats-it shampoos and conditioners.

This is obviously not a comprehensive review- since Bond No. 9 has a bazillion fragrances. I'm also no "nose"- I like the way certain things smell on me and others, not so much.
To give you an idea: D&G Light Blue smells like hospital disinfectant on me. Marc Jacobs and I tend to agree- love Daisy, Oh, Lola and Original Marc Jacobs which, with my chemistry, smells very much like gardenias. My newest love affair is with Elie Saab- incredibly feminine and sophisticated. Bvgari scents tend to work well for me, as do a number of Tocca scents. Tocca probably gets me the most compliments. Love Jimmy Choo Flash. Love Kate Spade, esp. her new fragrance.
I love floral. I love fruity but lean toward the citrus side- not the cloying pina colada in a bottle type stuff. I like fresh, light scents. So, Bond No. 9:
Madison Soiree: meh. I should like this since the main notes are supposed to be white floral. On me it smells like Barbie right out of the box. Plastic-ey. The dry down is very cloying in a plastic toy kinda way.
Central Park: Well, they certainly captured the less than great smelling areas of the park. This is supposed to be a floral green crossover(for both men and women) scent. For me the green comes on WAY TOO STRONG but the middle floral notes do eventually come through. Unfortunately, they aren't strong enough to get past the opening notes.
Nouveau Bowery: This scent I like, bordering on love. At first spray, I was like "uh oh" but then it settled right down. I did pick up on Thyme in the top notes which is pretty unusual so I suspect this might be a bit of a head-turner. The lime def. dominates on my skin and then the mandarin orange. I did not pick up on much, if any, violet on the dry down(I love Violet because it has an interesting neurological property where you smell it and then you don't but then your receptors free up again and you can smell it again- so anything with strong violet in it should hit the wearer in waves). The sillage is close on this one and it doesn't last long with me.
Chelsea Flowers: a must-have for me. It opens like a bouquet of peonies- which, along with roses, are my favorite flowers. I also get the hyacinth, magnolia and rose notes. The dry down is nice, retaining the floral notes but with warm woody notes and a touch of musk coming through. The sillage is perfect, close and relatively long lasting, this might be a great signature scent for someone with chemistry/taste like mine. I love how the warm sandalwood and musk give way to the floral every now and then- almost like an instant replay.
Gramercy Park: Very green on me but not in an ugly way. It reminds me of hiding in a hedge when I was a little girl. This could also be a very masculine scent. Green and woodsy with a touch of lily or maybe cyclamen? Some white floral is in there but it is evasive. There is a note that causes a bit of discord for me- something in the green woodys aspect- maybe it is the lingering Ivy? If someone gave me a bottle for free I'd probably wear it- in the daytime, in the spring. I certainly would spend a couple hundred dollars for a bottle, just mho with my chemistry and all.
Madison Square Park- I'm in love! Grass, Blueberry, hyacinth then on to rose and tulip. It doesn't go through some massive transformation- it is what it is- a green, floral scent built on base notes of teak and vetiver. I don't know what they did, but this is magical for me and def. a head-turner. Lots of perfumes give me headaches- I'm not good with lots of musk and patchouli. I could bathe from head to toe in this and not worry about getting a headache. This reminds me of lying in the long grass betwen the rose bushes at the rose garden in early summer. Despite the green and floral notes- this is sophisticated and the teak and vetiver let this be a feminine scent but not girly-girl. Some may find this too floral or sweet but with my chemistry, it is near the top of my favorites(And yes, I do own a bottle which is a selling point in and of itself!).
Washington Square: It opens with rose and vetiver and then blossoms beautifully from there, never quite forgetting where it started. Honey and amber anchor the scent as geranium enters the picture. The sillage is close. This is an intimate fragrance and feels very decadent and sophisticated without being totally pretentious. This is another of my faves. Wish it lasted a bit longer. I own this, as well.
The Spirit of Peace: Lovely. Opens with a green citrus- blueberries and grapefruit out of which lily of the valley comes bursting through. Again, a light sigh of musk and cedar are the base notes. The scent carries itself well- excellent sillage and it lasts on me. I could wear this day and night and it is a guaranteed-compliment-getter though some may not realize that beautiful scent is coming from you and look for a bouquet or flower garden nearby. Sorry to be cheesy but I feel like this scent is one of those special finds and it has a revered spot on my shelf.
I Love New York For All- Gag. Think descending into the subway, think garbage can on Coney Island. Those lovely notes will be sweetened with a sickly take on Cotton Candy. Sorry, this did not work for me. I had to scrub it off. Most Bond No. 9 fragrances, even if they don't work for me aren't the kind where I feel like I need to get a brillo pad and debride my body of every last particle of scent, this one though... Don't even go there. I can't imagine it smelling good on anyone. They did do an excellent job of capturing the less than attractive smells of NYC which is quite a feat.
Fear not, there are good things coming. I will be reviewing more Bond No. 9 fragrances soon and there will def. be some lovelies in there.
In the meantime- try to get ahold of an Elie Saab sample. You will hopefully not regret it!
