I've already admitted to being a Bvlgari addict and BLV II is probably my favorite of all the
scents in the Bvlgari line thus far otherwise I wouldn't mention this little promotion. Basically, you get a mini BLV II with the purchase of a 1.7oz or 2.5oz BLV II(over $65) at Macy's.
A smarter buy might be from nulime.com which includes a 1.7oz spray, .34oz purse spray and a 2.5oz bath/shower gel for $56.75. Also at Sephora for $69 (click on picture).I love sets that come with a purse spray as many perfumes I *love* tend to wear off quickly. It's probably my lizard skin or something but it is nice to be able to touch up my fragrance before heading in or en route somewhere. The shower gel is nice, as is lotion, because layering the scent helps it last longer- to that I can attest.
I got my sample of Bond #9 Madison Square Park from Sephora. Bond #9 has a pretty expensive line and samples I've smelled haven't made me want to fork over the $100+ or $200+ for a bottle. BUT I'M IN LUV!!
I'm wearing Madison Square Park right now and when I first put it on I thought it was too citrus-ey but now a bit later... I mean, wow. This is a great scent on me- I noticed it was very citrus-ey at first, very green and then I could pick up on the hyacinth, rose and vetiver. I will be keeping an eye out for this particular scent at a good price. On the Bond No. 9 website, the 100ml size of Madison Square Park goes for $200. I do have to say that it has decent lasting power and the sillage is about as perfect as it gets- enough that people get just a hint of it as you walk by, tantalizing, but by no means overwhelming.
Had a minor freak-out when some strange man grabbed my arm in the grocery store to stop and ask me what perfume I was wearing. Dude, not cool. This does go to show that Madison Square Park is def. a head-turner. Still, I'll wait for a better deal or GWP efore I shell out $150-$200 for any scents in the Bond No. 9 series- Madison Square Park runs around $260 at some stores for the 3.38oz size. They do make lovely air freseners in the shape of the rose on the Madison Square Park bottle. For ONLY $130 at Saks, you can have the best smelling loungerie drawer ever! Whopee! (Okay, fine, if I were like a millionaire I would def. want them!
Estee Lauder GWP: Spend $35 or more on Estee Lauder at Van Maur and receive an Estee Lauder GWP. If you spend an extra $35 dollars (total of a $70 purchase) they will throw in 4 Pure Color Gloss Shades. The GWP includes: Resilience Face and Neck Crème OR DayWear Crème, .5 oz., Lilly Pulitzer Floral Cosmetic Bag with Compact Mirror, Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara in black, Pleasures Body Lotion, 1 oz., Advanced Night Repair, .24 oz., Pure Color Shimmer in Rose Envy. This seems like a decent GWP- especially since you get to choose your moisturizer. Not sure I'd double down for the Pure Color Gloss(I have long, fine hair that likes to stick to my lips with annoying persistence when I wear gloss).
Time for a review! Yay! With swatches and everything!! I recently purchased three of Sephora's eyeshadows from their Sephora Collection-Colorful Eye Shadow.
One thing to note is that my skin color, though fair, is considered 'cool'. I have brown hair and broown eyes and look my best in 'cool' colors (blues as opposed to yellow or orange which definitely do not look good on me. My daughter(who is my gladly my guinea pig, let me take photo to show y'all what they lok like.
I purchased three colors: #55 Starry Sky(a decidedly dark silver/grey, #45 Girl Talk, and #61 Engagement. Go to Sephora to see all the colors- there are quite a few!
I did swatches on my daughter's eyes so you can get a feel of what they look like when they are actually worn.
On one eye, I just covered her lid from lash to brow with Girl Talk which is a rosy pink. It is a very pretty color but may not show up as well on fairer skin tones.
On her other lid, I used the lighter gray- Engagement- all over and then made a triangle in the corner of her eyelid with the darker gray- Starry Night- then blended tem together. All three colors were very pretty, but subtle, especially after blending.
I think these are a reasonable product for a reasonable price. The colors do not cause a line, last for quite some time and are easily blendable.
Just applying the eyeshadow with an eyeshadow brush left sparkles everywhere- especialy under the eye. A padded applicator might alleviate some or all of this. When this happened the first time I figured it was user error but I was very careful with the second lid and, yes, more sparkles I love sparkly things but I think this particular line(aside from the mattes) would be better worn to an evening event/night out on the town.
I am always happy to hear comments and suggestions, especially for my cosmetic/fashion/fragrance guilty pleasure!!
Until tomorrow... be your own kind of beautiful!
